Throwback Thursdays - Chief Keef is the future

Hey guys. Remember that time. That really fun time. What was that song? Oh yeah. ‘I Don’t Like’. So, in early 2012, this 16 year old from Chi Town released like the biggest hit of all time. It literally blew up the internet. Everyone was talking about Mr. Keef. He was all over blogs, twitter, you name it. I’m not going to lie to you guys; it was one hell of a song. For two reasons; one, everyone likes shouting “A fuck nigga, that’s that shit I don’t like!” and two, no one understands anything else he is saying. Funnily enough, around the time, my brother came up to me telling that Chief Keef had evolved a new breed of rap... Where you don’t know what he’s saying.

So yeah. That happened. Keef pretty much sat with that song for about half a year. He enjoyed his 17th birthday (I think he was back in pen or something again, I forget) and then released Love Sosa in October. Now I’m not a Chief Keef fan. So I only listened to this song after Drake tweeted “Love Sosa on repeat all day”. A few more months went by where you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing about it and then he teamed up with Wiz and Fiddy to release ‘Hate Bein’ Sober’. I’m pretty sure he was in prison or house arrest for the shooting of this video too, but yeah, again, I’m not too sure.

His actual album ‘Finally Rich’ finally dropped on December 18th, not to much critical claim. Or to any acclaim really. But...The 17 year old successfully dropped an album. I’m pretty sure that he pushed about two to three hundred thousand copies and became oh so popular.

Just before the album came out, I remember hearing loads of talk about the Chief from Chicago to be the next biggest rapper. Surely we can’t all be wrong. Maybe he just fucked it all up...
