It's been a long week

Nelson Mandela
It is only right to talk about such a great man. On December 5th we were all hit with the devastating news that Mandela had unfortunately passed away. It is true that he was and had been ill for quite some time, but the man lived an extraordinary 95 years. Mandela faced twenty seven years in prison after leading a democratic uprising in South Africa against the British Rule. When he finally finished his unjust sentence, Mandela went on to become the first black president of South Africa. Nelson Twitter and Facebook flocked with messages from not only the people but celebrities alike. Mandela has been an inspiration to us all. And to lose the Nobel Peace Prize winner is a sad day for us all.

Jay Z
So December 4th was back and Jay Z turned another year closer to the day he puts the mic down. So what? Another twenty, thirty years left? Hov turned 44 on Wednesday and we didn’t really here much about what he did. Pro’lly sat down with Queen B and little Blue and had a nice million dollar breakfast. But we did get something out of the GOAT. We got a nice little picture of how Jay Z thinks his work stacks up. No one is going to doubt that Reasonable Doubt will forever sit pretty at the top and for our hopes, we hop Kingdom Come will forever be the base for this skyscraper. What is that? 3 classics? 4 classics? Is Magna Carta really better than his first Volume of work? Let us know what you think in the comments below...

Kanye West
Yay! You get to hear me talk more about this motherfucker. Well what can I say? That’s all people (me) want to talk about. Kanye was down in Miami at some art convention or something (I’m sure you all want to hear about that) and dropped the big news that his follow up to Yeezus is already in the works. And I personally, am very excited that this album is going to be executively produced by not only Rick Rubin, but Q-Tip. As a young guy, I’ve not heard enough of Q-Tip. Maybe this next album will shed some more light on to how he works. You know how Yeezus was 10 songs? Yeah... This next one is gonna be 8 songs. He went on to give some analogy or metaphor or something about how design will never be finished until nothing can be taken away. But the point is that he is going to keep this album to a minimal. Get his message across as simple as possible. No gimmicks.

Remember about a week ago when I told you Kanye went on Juan Ep. Well yeah, they finally released the full interview and Kanye goes in depth about quite a few things. It’ll take about 50 minutes of your time. But it’s worth a listen.

While Kanye was in Atlanta he also talked to DJ Greg Street. He talks about his usual design and fashion stuff. But he does touch a little more on the music in this interview, talking about how Biggie and CyHi the Prince influences his music. I got both videos down in case you want to hear more about design...

Kanye’s deal with Adidas was finally confirmed.  We heard rumours about it and I told you about that before. But finally Adidas put out word about the deal and here’s what they had to say. “For 2014, we welcome to the Adidas family, one of the most influential, cultural icons of this generation: Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.” So yeah. I guess, details to follow...

Drake
So Kanye breaks the deal with Nike and heads over to Adidas. So what does Drake do? Oh yeah, he goes and tries to one up Kanye at what he’s already done. Of course. Drake posted a couple of pictures on his Instagram with a couple of Jordan trainers with his OVO logo on it. It’s not really anything special. Just a regular Air Jordan shoe with OVO on the sole. I don’t think these will be going for thousands on eBay.

However, there is some more exciting news from Drake. Everyone knows he is gearing up to release a heap full of songs and Drizzy just added another one to the pile. The video on his Instagram shows a snippet of the track featuring Aaliyah. I’m pretty sure he has enough music to put out a little EP. Black October, maybe?
