Thanksgiving
So Thanksgiving has just passed us and what a mighty effort it has
been in the hip hop community. Being from England, I don’t really celebrate
Thanksgiving. It’s not a big deal here, I guess there are a few people that do
it, but it’s rare to see anything about it over here. But, luckily, our stores
have adopted Black Friday from the States and let just say that I’m not
complaining.
Being a Miami native, DJ Khaled was feeing generous and headed
his own streets. He brought the YMCMB lot that don’t really do much nowadays
(Birdman, Ace Hood, Slim and Mack Maine) served the good people of Miami. But
Khaled and his boys weren’t the only ones to be so giving this Thanksgiving. Big
Sean, Meek Mill, Young Jeezy & Mistah F.A.B also thought they’d take a step
down from their lavish lifestyles to be with the people, the people that made
them who they are today. It really is amazing to see just how much hip hop
influence the culture. It’s great because hip hop is really just one giant
community. There is a bond between fans and artists that you just don’t seem to
get in any other genre of music. I think it’s the mutual state of mind everyone
is in that makes us so damn close. Check out the festivities...
Eminem
So it’s been a good week for the God, Eminem. Monster finally went
platinum. I say finally, but it’s been less than a month. Seriously guys, this
guy really pushes his fucking numbers. Congrats to him there.
In bigger news, the visual to Rap God finally dropped. The thing is, this isn’t
like the old conventional rap videos we are used to, but for some reason it
feels like it is. There is one classic scene where he is with his ‘boys’ and
just spitting hard. But other than that, there’s a lot of flashing lights, some
sort of sci-fi body suit, one helluva black suit and a pretty wild Haircut...
Well, for Eminem. But with these new type of videos being pushed by the likes
of Cole and Drake, Rap God feels like a relaxing change of pace back to the
basics.
Take a look...
Remember when The
Marshall Mathers LP 2 leaked and everyone listened intently. Yeah, and about
your 5th time around you realised that he dissed Asher Roth on ‘Awesome’.
Remember? “Ask Asher Roth when he round-a-bout dissed me to shout me out/
Thought I was history but God damn honkey, that complements like a backhanding
a donkey/ Good way to get your ass socked in the mouth” Yeah, Asher Roth had
something to say about it...
Kanye West
Hmm? Kanye? Again? Yes,
again! Kanye is always in the spotlight for a reason. He is trying damn hard to
get his fucking point across. There’s only so much that an artist can portray through
their music. Kanye really wants to get everyone understanding why Kanye West is
so Kanye West. So he headed down Shade 45 to talk to Sway (in the morning) about
what he is doing in the fashion world... And a bit about that Yeezus thing he
did in June. He really has some valid point, but you can’t help but break down
in laughter when Kanye breaks down himself. Oh yeah, and he also takes a second
out to say that Drake is the hottest out right now. Check out the video below. Hit
17:00 for Kanye shouting at Sway. And at around 31:00 Kanye spits a sweet freestyle and literally fucks the game up again.
So what else did
Kanye do this week? Oh right, how could I forget? More fucking interviews. He
also went on Juan Epstein as well as The Breakfast Club to talk a bit more
about the music he makes, and not so much on his fashion aspect. I heard that
Adidas deal he got is worth something like $10 million. Pocket change, right? I
ain’t going to break down every interview that hits us, because honestly, I
have to do more important stuff. Like sleep and shit. Check both out below...
Oh yeah, before I
forget. There is one more things I think you guys should check out...
