Beyoncé
Yeah. Beyoncé happened. So on the night of the 12th of December, Beyoncé thought that it’d
be a good idea to drop an album out of the sky. The
self titled album “Beyoncé” contains
14 tracks including features from Jay Z, Drake and Frank Ocean. Yeah, pretty
impressive. But oh wait! She throws in 18 fucking videos in with that. You read
that right. I think she put it out at midnight so technically; it was released
on Friday the 13th. The 18 videos that accompanied the album
contained studio sessions from “Grown
Woman”, a track that surprisingly is not on the actual album. Beyoncé likes
to call it a Visual Album as the
videos are supposed to enhance your experience. But to be honest with you, I
don’t really like music videos, it gives restricts my imagination and sometimes
ruins the songs for me. Yeah. Beyoncé happened. So on the night of the 12th of December, Beyoncé thought that it’d
There was absolutely no marketing for this. Everyone was
waiting for a Beyoncé album, but there wasn’t a single peep of when it was
coming out. Looking at it now, there were always hints that she would drop an
album out the sky like this. So she put it out, exclusively on iTunes. She
ended up selling 450,000 records on the first day alone. Two days later and she’s
racked up a staggering 830,000 sales. Think about if she had a full week to
count all her sales. She would have soared passed the platinum mark. Bravo, Mrs
Carter. Bravo.
Kanye West
It’s been a while since I’ve talked about Mr. West. There’s been a certain void in this blog that only this great man can fill. So here’s some more news about him. On Saturday we wrote anarticle on how the Grammy’s really fucked up the hip hop category this year. Kanye evidently thought so too. He takes a little time out of his TWENTY FUCKING MINUTE RANT to talk a little about his history with the Grammy’s. He says his usual about he’s never beaten a white man and talk about Michael Jackson. And then he finishes saying that Yeezus has been on top of everyone’s list and he was still only nominated for 2 Grammy’s. Fair play by Kanye but we made our own nominations list ourselves and he didn’t favour to well on ours either. Kanye isn’t hip hop. Kanye West is Kanye West. Skip to 9:50 to check it out...

The Bound 2 video
still hasn’t finished circulating. After James Franco and Seth Rogan gave the
world their parody, South Park also took a shot at it. Now I’m not a fan of
South Park. I really fail to see the humour. But you guys can still make your
own judgement...
Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar is carrying on his impressive season. So what’s that now? About 2 years? Cool. Rikki Martinez from Power 106 caught up with Kendrick at the Cali Christmas concert. Kendrick is up for 7 Grammy’s I believe, just trailing behind the Jigga man with 9. He faired really well and even got nominated for AOTY in all categories. It’s hard enough for a hip hop album to get nominated for that, but Kendrick is a new Kid that has a fairly raw rap album. There is not much pop appeal and the fact that it got nominated for Album of the year is sick. See what Kendrick had to say about it...

Talking about Cali Christmas, Kendrick was headlining along
with the rest of his TDE family. I have been told that the whole crew brought
loads of energy to the stage and they made it a night to remember. Kendrick
even brought out Diddy to perform Benjamins
and Same Damn Tune.

The King of the South has postponed his album Trouble Man II. It was a long time coming, and everyone pretty much knew that something was up. Instead T.I says he is working on a new album called Paperwork which sound interesting. He has reassured us that this album is bound to be a classic. If it is anything like his previous work: Paper Trail, we know that’s true.
He had this to say "All I'ma say is, it's gonna be a motion picture, it's gonna be a theatrical-worthy title. Something that will definitely seem instant classic. I'm thinking something like Trap Champion, Paperwork,but whatever it is the subtitle will be 'The Motion Picture'."
